Hi am a bit confused as last year i understood to recieve uk tv i needed a 1.9mtr dish to recieve all the english freeview channels, i still have the old mesh dish and reciever from telmicro and recieve some channels, but nothing great,i see in the local papers advertising full systems with 1m or 1.2 mtr dish for between 199 and 299 euros complete direct to satalite with no other payments to pay!! all freeview bbc1 2 &3 itv, channel 5 and more. can anyone tell me if this is correct, i dont want to get ripped off like i did when i paid for the year with telmicro for all the channels then they go bust and lose the signal. how come they say you can recieve these channels now with only a 1 mtr dish?
i doubt it as our region (costa blanca) seems to be the weakest for English stations, i have a 1.9 and still lose some stations late at night
I am new to Spain and have been looking at getting English T.V set up at home as the kids are starting to get board.
But I have heard that it is not legal to have English channels in Spain, can you put me right on this point please?
Anybody can have freeview as theses are free to air stations so no problem, if you get a sky receiver this is only legal in uk and ireland but there is no way they can stop you as long as you dont ring them up and tell them you are in spain all you have to do is have the card paired with the box. all the company's around supply this service
There are companies advertising that you can recieve UK tv on a 1m dish, but I have read various articles in the english speaking press that it is only TEMPORARY, because of current satelite locations, these are due to change and then it is highly likely that the 1m dish will not get you very much if anything at all!! It seems people are hoping to make money while they can. I shall be sticking to my current provider.
thanks for the replys, think maybe i had better wait or install a 1.9 mtr dish instead, but they are so expensive
I would certainly wait for the minute, over here you hear lots of rumours and you never know whether to believe them or not, but where money is concerned it is better to be safe than sorry. From what I have read in the papers it will be probably less than 12 months before these 1m dishes could be useless!
we had one of those dishes installed last year and its great, paid 199 for it and they could not have been more helpfull they were advertised in one of the free papers and explained the only way we could loose the signal was if the satalite was turned off which is very unlikely. even if it is, we have saved loads of money already that we would have paid paying a monthly subscription.
From what I understand the Astra 2 satelite is being replaced, and the new satelite is to be placed much lower than Astra 2 in an effort to stop people recieving it in other countries. Does this mean that Astra 2 will be switched off?
We share a 1.9 metre dish with two neighbours and never lose any channels. It's great.
As far as I know we will be able to get sky signal on a 1m dish until the end of this year then the satalites will be changed again
From February 2012, BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC1 HD, BBC HD, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC News, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4,ch 4, E4, More4, and Film4, five, five* & five usa plus many more all received on a 1 meter satellite dish. Which have also been available on this system. This has been made possible by these channels moving to another satellite, Astra 1N. Astra 1Ns reception in Spain is much better than the channels previous satellite , Astra 2D. So the channels moving to Astra 1N has means an unexpected bonus of the main UK TV channels being made available on smaller satellite dishes all installed by out team of fully trained ex sky engineers. one off payment of 199 €uros NO MONTHLY FEES!There is lots of chat about signals changing end of 2013 looking at allthe evidence provided the signals will infact improve even more out here on the Costa Blanca and hopefully put an end to illegal re-broadcast companies providing poor quality services and charging monthly fees for free to air channels! any information needed please e mail us at [email protected] or call 965 326 139 / 618 159 349 / 698 779 474 we are currently installing on average 60 systems per day and 80& of our business are customers changing over from re-broadcast companies for a full High Defintion Service plus we are High Speed Internet Providers and Land Line services with free calls to UK and Spain plus many more any questions please feel free to comment and i will try my best to clear anything up my name is Matthew and i alone have over 11 years experience in the satellite & Telecom Industry here to help regards.
I am only in Spain for a few months a year and I am with DVBlab for TV; phone and computer. It works out about €25 per month when I am in Spain, and I only pay €5 a month when I am not in order to retain my telephone number
I have been told that Sky are now operating off a different Satellite, which sends a much stronger signal.
I have just put in 2 weeks ago british TV that is free with a one off payment of 199 euros and it is great
