Council

I assume that all the people who are commenting on the council voted in the last election, I understand that the turnout in La marina was pathetic considering the population only a few hundred could be bothered to turn out ,therefore they have no right to complain if things are not to their liking.

La Marina

Perfect.I could not say it better myself.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-19 17:22:43 UTC

Andi, it would not surprise me if the people that did not vote last year are the ones that are doing the most complaining on this forum! What about you Andi, you are probably the most prolific user on this forum. Did you and your mother vote during the elections last May, are you a resident in Spain?

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2012-04-20 07:42:32 UTC

Prolific, no I wouldnt say that. As for resident of Spain my family has been here since 1997 I was pulled out of my school in the UK and had to put up with going to school in torre. So yes, that answers your question. As for my mum voting, no she didn't vote but she don't post on any forums either.
As forme voting, nope I didn't but I still have a opinion on stuff just like everyone does. I won't slate the last council or this council all I will say is I think the money could of been used a lot better but that's that.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-20 07:48:04 UTC

I am new to the area but am very keen on politics, I will be watching what goes on over the next few years and will be working hard in the area to get the right councilor into power next time round.

Commented Tina in La Marina 2012-04-20 08:09:42 UTC

Andi, do you always forget what you say from one day to the next? In this post you have stated "As for my mum voting, no she didn't vote but she don't post on any forums either".
Yesterday, in response to an announcement from Impact Charity, you said "no I am not Impact Charity, that's my mother!
Can we believe anything you say in this forum?

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2012-04-20 10:36:52 UTC

You seem to be on a different planet. What's the heading of this thread. It's to do with the council and you were stating about people voting and blah blah. She's posts regarding impact charity, that nothing political. So its that easy to understand. To be honest instead of chatting to me about about her if your so concerned about her why don't you drag yourself off to see her.
I'm done replying to you as your probably one of these trolls

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-20 10:45:03 UTC

I think that some people had a problem with being permitted to vote, a lady in front of me was turned away as she was not on the list, apparantly she was able to vote at the previous elections.

Commented Syd in Rentals in Spain 2012-04-20 12:13:01 UTC

Or perhaps they all asked for the voting papers of Miss,Mz. or Mr Anonymous, and were told only one anonymous please choose another surname

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-04-20 12:27:15 UTC

Very good reply Alan, you should be in politics

Commented Daves Homes in Rojales 2012-04-20 12:36:43 UTC

Tina, why do I get the impression that you have been in La marina longer than you say you have. Could you, by any chance, be an old adversary of Andi? I happen to be a very preceptive person and my gut feelings don't often let me down!!!!!!!!!!!

Commented violet in San Fulgencio 2012-04-20 17:08:38 UTC

Adam

Adam i wrote that wrong then edited it then deleted it. There are probably 80% of people on here being someone they aint. As for Tina well Tina you will never influence an election unless you got at least have 200 strong army behind you

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-20 17:56:29 UTC

Hi Adam
I have owned a home here for a few years now, but only started to move over full time in the last 12 months. I think you maybe right regarding Andi but only on this site.
What I will say is that I was involved in politics.

Andi

As for influencing an election, it was not in my plans when I first moved over but I might just have a go for the fun of it. 200 voters needed should be a number that can be achieved. I have helped get ministers into power so how knows.

Commented Tina in La Marina 2012-04-20 18:00:21 UTC

Tina,
Can I give you one piece of advice,if you are still on the political ladder.
Most people in politics dont realise, but the aim of winning in politics is to report what you have done well, you get no brownie points for repeating what you think the opposition do badly,The public already know what is done badly,so surely it makes sense for you to do something that is good for the public, and then boast about it,not do nothing yourself so that all you have to say is that the opposition is crap, hoping this takes the limelight away from your own shortcomings

Commented Alan in La Marina 2012-04-20 18:38:58 UTC

Thanks for the advise we are never too old to learn. I am not involved anymore but after a life time of campaigning its hard to get it out of your system.

I myself believe that the first thing to do is control what people see and read this has not been done by either the present or past councilors in the area they seem to have different ideas as to how to win votes.
You are right that it is import to report what you do well but others can also report what you have done bad but if you have control then you are in with a chance.
With this in mind I have read a few weeks ago that the people who were running this site are not doing so anymore so I have asked for the job.

Commented Tina in La Marina 2012-04-20 19:07:11 UTC

Tina

Tina can I say that if you have emailed Steve asking for the admin job I think he needs to think very carefully as, Ian and Carol were very well known people on the Urb. You are a stranger, you face has not been put to your name yet, for instance I met Alan face to face a couple weeks back so he knows this is me and I know it's him. Fact is I don't think you should control the forum untill you go around to all bars and people who advertise on here so they can put you face to the name.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-20 19:24:15 UTC

You are right Andi and this would be in my plan, but the key is a platform such as this one, I have seen that the present councilor is not interested in working the internet to get votes, but I do. So as soon as I have got the job (if I get the job) I will then have something to talk to everyone about.

Commented Tina in La Marina 2012-04-20 19:29:59 UTC

Andi I was referring to your old friend "Angelique" Tina seems to talk in the same style.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Commented violet in San Fulgencio 2012-04-20 23:12:21 UTC

Well Tina if you want to get involved in Politics please dont use this forum it will drive a lot of people away there will only be you andi & alan left oh dont forget Nicki telling us the daily special at AJ,s

Commented david in La Marina 2012-04-21 07:55:52 UTC

I think I'm going to have to stop using the forum anyway David. It's getting to stupid on here. Like all the bar noise the trolls do the damage on here now they have all gone.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-21 07:57:59 UTC

Tina, you are not correct about councillors present and past not using the Internet to communicate information to the public. Our current councillor has a web site and his blog and the previous English councillor has a very popular web site that has been established for many years. It is one if the top sites in Google if you do a search for La Marina Urbanisation: lamarina.info
It is still updated regularly, from my observations moreso than our current councillors site.

Commented Sandra in La Marina 2012-04-21 11:48:58 UTC

Sandra

So I see you are a ex councillors fan. Let me ask you this seeing as you seem to know so much about the site or the ex councillor, why isn't this current councillor out and about asking for peoples votes or being there to oppose things. They done all the shouting and advertising be lore the elections so why not now. If I'm correct the ex councillor and his group had a lot of votes on the Urb but still the political party he ran with has turned there back on the big amount of people who voted for them. I'm not having a dig at you Sandra I'm trying to even it out. If you would like to go to Jeffs blog you will see people can comment and are commenting. Even if you understand basic Spanish you will be able to follow instructions. I also believe the site you put on here the la marina info, peoPle can't post on there can they.

Commented Andi in La Marina 2012-04-21 11:57:35 UTC

You will find that the people who make the most noise, did not bother to get of their behind and spend a few minutes to go to the voting station.
Having said that the promises made by the in coming party are yet to be forfilled. Come on you party members we put our trust in you now do your bit.

Commented SMUDGE in La Marina 2012-04-21 12:17:37 UTC

Hey Smudge how right you are some people just couldn't be bothered to vote but those that did need to see some of what was promised at election time come about but then we have to give them a chance to put their plans into action so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

Commented Negotiator in La Marina 2012-04-21 13:06:46 UTC

How long do you reckon they need to prove they are doing what they promised, and yes I did vote. Twice now and hopefully a few more times. There was a dreadful episode previously when a lot on 'foreigners' were turned away from the polling station.

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-04-21 16:58:18 UTC

I personally do not see a problem with Tina being on this or any other open forum and being involved with local politics. In fact I can see the positive side, we may well learn quite a lot.
As for people no longer posting complaints about the rowdy bars without the correct soundproofing, etc etc, well I am still on here using my own name. However as I posted earlier, the Police and Jeff appear to be doing a good job, there has been some improvement.

Commented Syd in Rentals in Spain 2012-04-21 17:14:37 UTC

to be honest Peter being an Oasis resident I am waiting to attend the meeting they are having tomorrow and reserving my judgement until after that. Lets see if they are prepared do anything about our roads which the previous administration destroyed.

Commented Negotiator in La Marina 2012-04-21 20:48:38 UTC

My real name is Angelique and I have had a few problems on forums when I was new to both the area and forums, I saw a mention of an Angelique above and wondered if I am getting flack for something someone else has done? Could anyone be so kind as to fill me in and give me a chance to find out what on earth is going on? I was quite shocked at the personal comments made by other members to each other, since its only the second time I came, till I saw the name I had decided not to come back!

Commented MAS in Quesada 2012-04-21 21:16:18 UTC

If you are Angelique I am sure there are a lot of people wishing to fill you in!
Sorry, couldn't resist!

Commented Peter Horsfield in La Marina 2012-04-22 09:31:11 UTC

I did meet another Angelique once who was starting a cleaning company. I am Michele Angelique Shields (my family used Ang) and I live in Quesada. No hidden identity or agenda - a little daughter etc - So would like to know if there is an Angelique out there making trouble that I should know of! Please, and thanks. On the internet I was AngeliqueofShields (silly game I played on there). or Ang123 - happy to give out contact details if someone wants to verify I am no one else and it would be great to find out what this other Angelique has done or said and establish I am not the same person!! Yes I voted btw wherever I lived - sorry to hijack the thread but it came up under this heading.

Commented MAS in Quesada 2012-04-22 10:06:06 UTC

Hi Tina
Reading some of your post, I have cut and pasted one of your comments.

I might just have a go for the fun of it. 200 voters needed should be a number that can be achieved. I have helped get ministers into power so how knows.

This may wind one or two of the bar owners up, however a petition was going around recently with well over 200 names (multi nationalities) asking for a clamp down on the noisy bars.
Guess this list alone who give you a good starting point, however you may lose a dozen bar owners votes.
However I read that Jeff along with the Police force has started to act and clamp down, so could be he will gain a lot of extra votes next time around.

Commented Samantha in La Marina 2012-04-22 11:46:50 UTC

Everyone should be free to do what they want, in so long as their freedom does not take away the freedom of others. If a bar has insulation, the noise wont worry others who like it quiet. They would be better off getting loyal supporters to fundraise some decent sound proofing? Its awful when a venue closes because its too noisy, but it can be avoided!

Sandra,
Have just seen your comment, regarding the ex-councillors website,Come on this web site is the epitome of almost everything that is bad in politics.Everything on the town hall page is not info, regarding La Marina, but a constant attackon the new local councillor and the ruling parties. In fact the only thing good that I have found on the site was how to make a denuncia in English, but fortunately I havnt had to use this info. yet,so I dont know if it is good info.or rubbish like the town hall page.
As for being constantly updated,I dont think so.
